Olio Gentilizio di Riservasale

The Riservasale® company, located on the hills south of Taormina, hopes for a discreet and balanced interaction of man with the wild nature in which it is immersed, and aims to recover those centuries of passed down and almost nuanced rural expertise. The use of pesticides and herbicides is banned, the times of nature are respected, the trees are touched by light hands during the fruit harvest. Strolling towards our property one can pick from the trees different varieties of peaches, apricots, mulberries, prunes, figs, and also pomegranates, quinces, sorbus, grapes and olives. The meadow provides excellent bunches of wild vegetables and asparagus, while on the borders, dog rose and blackberries interweave untamed. Caretakers of this corner of Sicily, we are committing ourselves to explore and experience the characteristics and potentialities of the area. We strive towards managing resources with the utmost respect for nature and her rhythms. We hope for a fair and well-balanced interaction with man, able to restore those centuries of rural expertise, handed down and all but vanished, kept aloft by the few who still proudly till the land.

GENTILIZIO oil

Gentilizio® (from the Latin gens - which belongs to the place and ancestry) extra virgin olive oil is born from the desire to personally follow the production of one of the most common and beloved foods on our mediterranean table, combined with a deep passion and bond for Sicily. Gentilizio smells of fresh grass and sea breeze and it is pleasantly bitter and spicy due to the consistent presence of polyphenols: they protect both the oil and human body cells from oxidation, counting extra virgin olive oil among the anti-cancer foods par excellence. The choices that accompany each phase of its birth give the production of Gentilizio® qualitative and quantitative reserve characteristics, in an organic regime. The bottles are wrapped by hand with the red scarf. The yellow stitching, the symbolic colors of Sicily, refer to the red of the volcano's fire and the yellow of the oil, embodying passion and its fruit. Each table that welcomes Gentilizio® is scrupulously selected: it is entrusted exclusively to those who share the same values as its producer.

Where

We are in Sicily, in the village of Calatabiano, province of Catania. Risersvasale® is situated in the hills rising up behind the Gulf of Naxos. Masterfully cultivated with olive trees and vines since the time of the Ancient Greeks, they are now mostly restored to their vibrant and free nature. Protecting them is a wall, made from practically impassible pathways promising endless fatigue. For the undaunted who agrees to the climb, the welcome is enveloping, deep down and all-embracing. Lavish foliage, fresh fruits, coolness, spaces in disorderly harmony, vines bursting forth to see and muted to hear, and raw emotion and raw hope. Directing the gaze upwards to a blue background embracing Calabria to the north-east, one casts the eye along the eastern coast of Sicily, from the unmistakable profile of Taormina as far as the Gulf of Augusta. The surrounding embrace of the land and the backdrop securely formed by the local mountain, Etna.

scortati dal vulcano e attesi dal mare da secoli regalando
generose fronde a un panorama senza ostacoli. ”
